For Universities

Work With Us in the Amazon

We enable universities to run field programs, conduct research, and develop applied projects in the Peruvian Amazon. We handle the local complexity so you can focus on academic outcomes.

Why It Is Difficult

Amazon fieldwork is harder than it looks

01

Complex remote logistics

Getting teams, equipment, and permits into the Amazon without a local partner is slow and unpredictable. Most institutions spend months navigating systems that a trusted local partner resolves in days.

02

No trusted local presence

Without established community relationships, institutions cannot access the environments or the people that make field research meaningful. Trust takes years to build.

03

High operational uncertainty

Language barriers, infrastructure gaps, and unfamiliar systems create risk that most academic teams are not equipped to manage alone.

Why It Is Difficult

The Amazon Field Institute, an academic and research initiative of AKEC, operates as a field-based platform that supports universities and research teams in the Peruvian Amazon.

Interdisciplinary Programs

Build programs that span ecology, social science, health, and sustainability around a shared Amazon field site.

05 / 06

Grant-Funded Initiatives

We serve as local implementation partner for grant-funded projects, supporting field execution, data collection, and community coordination.

06 / 06

Institutional Agreements

We are open to formal MOUs and long-term institutional agreements with universities, research institutes, and academic networks.

The process

From your idea to work on the ground

01

You Define the Objective

Bring your research topic, course concept, or project goal. We start from what your university or institution needs.

02

We Design Together

We work with you to design a field execution plan that fits your academic calendar, group size, and project requirements.

03

We Coordinate on the Ground

AKEC handles all local logistics, community engagement, permits, and coordination before and during your program.

04

We Execute Side by Side

Your faculty or research team leads the academic work. We support implementation on the ground, every step of the way.
